Boat Charter Perth to the Abrolhos Islands

Boat Charter Perth to the Abrolhos Islands

It is that time of the year when the Western Australian government allow boat charter operators to take passengers into the beautiful to catch fish, go diving and surfing offshore. Many Perth boat charter operators make the journey to the Abrolhos Islands whilst others are locally based and operate within their specific area.

For those planning to take these once in a lifetime trips to the beautiful Western Australian coastline, you should be aware that the state government regulates boat charter operators to ensure that they comply with the rules and regulations of the fisheries act and also to ensure that the passengers are properly cared for and that every passenger has a life jacket, the boats have a tracking device in case of misfortune and that they have the best sonar and navigation aids that technology permits.
An Abrolhos Island Charter is a true joy for the water lovers amongst you. The fishing, diving surfing or cruising charters are seasonal due to government regulations protecting the environment. The sensational Abrolhos Islands are located nearly 40 nautical miles west of Geraldton. Geraldton is located about 6 hours north of Perth. They are known as the Houtman Abrolhos Archipelagos and consist of 122 islands in total, divided into four main groups; Wallabies group, Easter group, North Island group and Southern/Pelseart group. It is a real pleasure to look out on the beautiful aqua blue waters and just wonder in amazement at the pristine environment. It is truly one of the world’s best kept secrets.
The warm current means this area provides some of the best coral in the world! This location is idyllic and is ideal for deep-sea fishing, diving, surfing, snorkelling, or simply cruising between the many island groups. View the local species of seals and the majestic dolphins that play alongside the boat.
Many people come just to watch the dolphins ride the waves and join in with the “human folk” onboard. I personally love the snorkelling and the fishing, although my friend is a mad keen surfer. Many do not realise that the offshore waves attract a committed surfing crowd who go in search of the best waves to be had in and around the offshore environment. Add to all this a jet boat that allows overnight stays on the balmy evenings and you could find nothing closer to paradise.
On an historical note, the Batavia Shipwreck is also a local attraction inside the ‘Wallabies Group’ where it ran aground with 300 people on board on 5 June 1629 . A lot of interesting history relates to the crew and passengers on this ill-fated ship. The maritime museum in Fremantle has much of the information about the crew and passengers as well as part of the ship, rebuilt partly by volunteers and boating buffs.
Shark Bay near Denham is also a beautiful piece of the Western Australian tourism landscape. Well known for its tourist interactions with dolphins, a charter cruise is an ideal place to get away from it all and experience natural unspoilt beauty.
